Prince Harry and Meghan Markle caused an uproar when they decided to drop their royal duties and titles in January 2020.

Their departure, or Megxit as it was colloquially called, left people choosing sides between the couple or the Royal Family, and staffers who worked for them have also spoken out.

Recently, one staffer defended the Duchess of Sus𝑠e𝑥, likening her to another royal who had her peculiarities that made her different to other royals.

One courtier, who worked for Meghan and Prince Harry as part of their service at the palace, said that Meghan wasn’t as bad as some may make her out to be.The former staffer also said other members of the royal family may be similar or even worse who don’t get a hard time as Meghan.

The staffer told The Daily Beast: “There have been plenty of difficult royals over the years, and I do think that after the ill-feeling of Megxit (when Harry and Meghan left the royal family), Meghan’s bad moments were amplified and distorted and blown out of proportion.”Princess Margaret regularly got people to hold out their hands to use as ashtrays, for example, and that’s just laughed off as hilarious eccentricity. Look at Prince Andrew, he was unbelievable to the staff.”Prince Andrew is reportedly known for his rudeness to staff. Journalist Ryan Parry from the Daily Mirror went undercover at the Palace in the noughties and learned a lot about how royals behave.

The journalist said: “As part of a footman’s duty you had to, first of all, take a calling tray into a royal’s private bedroom.

“And on one occasion, I remember one of the more senior footmen telling me he took this tray into the Duke of York’s bedroom, opened the curtains and said: ‘Good morning your Royal Highness’ and he was greeted with a ‘f*** off’.”

According to Mr Parry, this was not a one-off either – Andrew had a reputation among staff for being coarse and demanding.
