Ciara and Russell Wilson are officially growing their family — exciting news that comes just three months after their romantic wedding.

The baby will be Ciara’s second — she’s already mom to son Future Zahir, 2 — and the first for Wilson.

Ciara’s pregnancy is just another high point in the pair’s whirlwind romance.

Around a year after her tumultuous breakup from ex-fiancé Future in 2014 amid reports of the rapper’s alleged infidelity, Ciara and the NFL star debuted their new relationship.

Walking hand-in-hand in front of photographers at the April 2015 White House State Dinner for Japan, the rumored lovers made their affection clear.

Soon after, Wilson revealed that the pair had struck an agreement to keep abstinent throughout their relationship.

Explained the 27-year-old in an interview with Pastor Miles McPherson at San Diego’s Rock Church, “I said to her — and she completely agreed — ‘Can we love each other without that?’ If you can love somebody without that, then you can really love somebody.”

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback poked fun at his ability to stick to his own commitment, telling McPherson, “If there’s a 10, she’s a 15.”

As their relationship strengthened over fun trips to Mexico and volunteer work, Ciara said their promise never waned.

The 31-year-old told PEOPLE earlier this year that the discussion to remain celibate during their relationship wasn’t a hard one to have, explaining, “No, it’s not hard at all.”

“He’s an awesome guy and a very confident guy,” Ciara shared. “Just like I feel like I’m a woman that knows what I want, he’s a man who knows what he wants.”

She too, had her promise tested though. She once admitted, “I’m not gonna lie. I’m human, so it is not easy, especially when I look at him and I think he is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen –- that I’ve ever laid my eyes on, to be honest.”

In March, the couple made it official, getting engaged on a surprise holiday to the Seychelles.

“The biggest surprise was that Russell proposed to his new fiancée at the romantic private ‘Honeymoon Beach’ located on North Island,” the singer’s rep told PEOPLE at the time.

Just four months later, the couple exchanged vows in front of family and friends at an English castle.

The wedding rings meant that Wilson and Ciara finally consummated their relationship — which they confirmed in a cheeky Snapchat video.

“So baby, you know what we’re doing tonight,” Ciara joked in a clip recorded just one day after their nuptials.

Newlywed bliss was certain in the months that followed. “This is the happiest I have ever been,” Ciara told PEOPLE in August.

And now — a baby on the way! Ciara announced her impending new addition on her birthday, writing on Instagram, “On this special Birthday I received an abundance of love from friends and family.. and I’m excited to Finally share one of the Greatest Gifts of All that God could give.”
