Conor McGregor sets the record straight on viral post-fight moment with Anthony Joshua

Conor McGregor has marked the first anniversary of his viral moment with Anthony Joshua by explaining what happened.

The UFC superstar sat ringside to watch Joshua brutally knock out late-replacement opponent Robert Helenius at the O2 Arena in London last August.

AJ bumped into McGregor during his immediate post-fight celebrations and was caught on camera being fed some of the Irishman’s beer, which sponsored the event.

In the early hours of Friday morning, ‘Notorious’ shared a meme of his funny moment with Joshua alongside a bunch of pictures from his big boxing night out.

McGregor used the caption to bust a myth about him forcing the former two-time heavyweight world champion to take a sip of his Forged Irish Stout in public.

“1 year ago today, Forged Irish Stout busy year! Also for the record I didn’t make Joshua do anything,” he wrote on Instagram.

“He exited the ring post his amazing victory and came straight to me and said “where is my Forged!” I gave him mine. It was the first time that had happened at a fight.

“It’s seriously tasty and incredibly refreshing you won’t get better! I don’t blame him one bit I am sure he enjoyed it thoroughly after the fight. So much so he ordered multiple keg loads of it to his local pub!

“Top man, top fighter, top Stout, Forged Irish Stout! Our partnership with Matchroom Boxing has been so good and with their fighters also!

“This is the fighters stout, Forged Irish Stout! For the working man and woman!

“What a year it has been for Forged I am very proud and grateful and extremely driven being at the helm of this quality product. It’s quality, point blank. BEST ON THE MARKET BY FAR!

“We have some mega announcements coming soon for you all, stay tuned! FORGED ARMY!”

Joshua has been in rare form ever since his meeting with McGregor.

The Englishman has recorded back-to-back wins over Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou to set up a clash with IBF titleholder Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on September 21.

McGregor is yet to return from the broken leg he suffered during a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.

The 36-year-old was supposed to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29, but he suffered a broken toe in training and withdrew from the eagerly anticipated contest.

McGregor and Chandler want to fight in December, but UFC CEO Dana White seriously doubts that his biggest star will return to the Octagon in 2024.

MMA fans are impatiently waiting for an official announcement on McGregor.
