A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms | SEASON 1 TRAILER | Max

Even in the face of moral quandaries and personal danger, Dunk consistently seeks to uphold the principles of knighthood because he has a strong sense of fairness. The first season of the program will adapt Martin’s first novella, The Hedge Knight, in which Dunk protects Tanselle, a puppeteer, during the Ashford Tournament after she is attacked by the ruthless Prince Aerion Targaryen. In the end, Dunk participates in a Trial of Seven in order to protect Tanselle’s honor and other people’s lives.

Throughout the Dunk and Egg novellas, which future seasons of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will adapt, Dunk performs numerous heroic deeds, often putting himself at great risk to protect others. Dunk represents the ideal of a true knight, who serves and protects the weak and innocent. He contrasts with the often morally ambiguous and corrupt characters who inhabit the world of Westeros, representing the ideals of chivalry, honor, and knighthood.
