In response to Patrick Mahomes’ ESPY Award, Brittany Mahomes shared a single word.

While the 2024 ESPY Awards don’t officially commence until July 11, the event made an early announcement regarding Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ latest achievement.

NFL on ESPN broke the news one day early that Mahomes won this year’s “Best NFL Player” award. Mahomes beat out Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson to earn this year’s honor.

Mahomes winning the award doesn’t come as a huge surprise after he led the Chiefs to back-to-back Super Bowls. After the ESPYs announced Mahomes as the winner, his wife, Brittany Mahomes, celebrated with a strong one-word message on her Instagram Stories.

“Facts,” Brittany wrote with three applause emojis. As for Mahomes, he reposted the announcement on X and wrote, “Grateful. Thank you @ESPYS.” His mother, Randi Mahomes, shared the news on her Instagram Stories and wrote, ” Always and forever so proud of you.”

The three-time Super Bowl MVP, who also won “Best NFL Player” last year, can snag two more awards at the 2024 ESPYs. He’s up for “Best Male Athlete” while the Chiefs are up for “Best Team.”

The rest of the winners will be announced at the 32nd annual ESPY Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday.
