Spider-Man actor Tom Holland reveals which Marvel movie he and Zendaya rewatch to reminisce about their early days in the franchise.
Marvel fans love to rewatch the various Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, but for Spider-Man actor Tom Holland, there’s a very special reason why he returns to Spider-Man: Homecoming “every now and then” for another viewing.
Speaking with Extra, Holland shared that, unlike other big-name actors, he’s perfectly fine watching himself in projects. “I definitely watch my stuff. I sometimes think I am my best critic,” Holland admitted. “I really, like, know what it is that I can do, and sometimes I will see something and go, ‘Damn! I could have pushed more there.’ Really, once something has come out, I kind of leave it to bed.”
The actor, who has so far starred as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in six MCU movies, then revealed that he and Zendaya will occasionally watch Spider-Man: Homecoming to reminisce about their time filming the 2017 superhero movie. “Zendaya and I will, every now and then, watch [Spider-Man: Homecoming] and reminisce about being 19 and making those movies again. I love those movies, and I love savoring those moments, so I try not to watch them as often as I would maybe like to because it’s so special,” he continued. “It’s such a luxury, such a gift to be able to sit down and sort of relive your youth. […] I wouldn’t be the man I am today without that job.”
Spider-Man 4 in Development at Marvel Studios
Holland and Zendaya, who officially stepped out as a couple in 2021, are both expected to reprise their roles as Spider-Man and MJ, respectively, in the forthcoming Spider-Man 4, which is in early development at Sony and Marvel Studios. Jon Watts, who helmed the first three MCU-set Spider-Man films, is also expected to return as director. While plot details for Spider-Man 4 remain under wraps, there have been rumors suggesting that the upcoming sequel will deal with the aftermath of the upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. Marvel and Sony haven’t officially announced a production start date for Spider-Man 4, although insider Daniel Richtman has reported that a late 2024 start is being eyed.
Daredevil & Ant-Man Rumored for Spider-Man 4
Richtman also recently shared that the current script for Spider-Man 4 features a “sizable role” for Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil and that Paul Rudd could appear as Scott Lang/Ant-Man. Holland’s Spider-Man is no stranger to working with other MCU heroes. He previously worked with Tony Stark/Iron Man, Nick Fury and Doctor Strange in Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home, respectively, while interacting with members of the Avengers and/or Guardians of the Galaxy in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is available to stream on Disney+.
