Manchester United face an anxious wait to find out the severity of the injuries sustained by Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund during the first half of their pre-season tour game against Arsenal.

Minutes after opening the scoring early on with a fine finish, Hojlund picked up what appeared to be a muscle injury. Hannibal Mejbri, as a false nine, replaced him just a quarter of an hour into the match before being substituted at half-time for Ethan Wheatley.

Then, during a drinks break, Yoro received treatment before being withdrawn. Rhys Bennett replaced the summer signing for ten minutes before making way at the break for Will Fish. Below is a breakdown of the injury issues United have this summer.

Leny Yoro

Injury: Muscle

Ten Hag’s verdict: “Of course, it is too short [to know about their injuries], and we have to wait over 24 hours, then we will hopefully know more. We were careful, especially with Leny [Yoro], as he only did 50 per cent of the [training] sessions. He has to come up, but let’s be positive and see what comes out.”

Possible return date: Unknown

Rasmus Hojlund

Injury: Muscle

Ten Hag’s verdict: “Of course, it is too short [to know about their injuries], and we have to wait over 24 hours, then we will hopefully know more. We were careful. But let’s be positive and see what comes out.”

Hojlund’s verdict: “We’ll see.”

Possible return date: Unknown

Victor Lindelof

Injury: “Niggle”

Lindelof has yet to play in any of United’s first three pre-season friendlies, missing the most recent against Arsenal while still recovering from a “niggle”. However, the defender is in the 29-man travelling squad, so there is seemingly some hope he can play against either Real Betis or Liverpool next week.

Possible return date: 1 August vs Real Betis
