‘It’s naturally ingrained in people’:Margot Robbie Confronts Sexism in Film During ‘Birds of Prey’ Promo.

Margot Robbie has said she believes 𝑠e𝑥ism is still prevalent in the film industry in a candid new interview.

On Monday, the 29-year-old was in London to promote her new film Birds of Prey – a film which she also serves as producer – when she told Glamour UK that 𝑠e𝑥ism is ‘naturally ingrained in people’ when asked if it still exists.

‘Even if you are the one who should be dictating the decisions – that they turn to the closest, eldest male in the room and direct the question at them,’ she said.

‘It’s just an inherent thing everyone has got in their DNA.’

Margot will reprise her role of Harley Quinn in the film, who first appeared in 2016’s Suicide Squad.

Birds of Prey is set after that film ended, following Harley’s split with Jared Leto’s Joker, as she forms a new all-female team.

The story follows her as she teams up with Helena Bertinelli a.k.a. Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Dinah Lance a.k.a. Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) to form the Birds of Prey.

They united to save a young girl from a crime lord, with a cast that also includes Ewan McGregor as Black Mask and Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz.

Birds of Prey is poised to possibly be one of the first big box office hits of the year.

Early box office projections put it between $40 million and $60 million for its opening weekend.

With a reported budget of $75 million, it could be quite the profitable hit, if it does well overseas and it manages to out-gross its domestic projection of $100 million to $150 million.

Margot is also expected to return in the Suicide Squad sequel plus Gotham City Sirens and another project that reunites her with Jared Leto’s Joker, but those are still in early stages of development.
