Tyson Fury goes for breakfast with Sir Alex Ferguson as he ‘considers ending retirement after 38 days’ with clock ticking on Anthony Joshua super-fight

Tyson Fury is reportedly considering coming out of his recent retirement to set up a long-awaited clash with Anthony Joshua.

The Gypsy King announced his retirement last month with immediate effect on the heels of his second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in December of last year.

‘Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet,’ he said in a clip he shared to social media. ‘I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast, I’ve loved every single minute of it.

‘I’m going to end with this… Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side. Get up!’

January’s video marked the fifth time that Fury has retired from the sport, with four returns to competition so far.

And for fans hopeful of the all-British clash the two fighters have been discussing for a number of years, there may yet be light at the end of the tunnel.

Joshua may have dropped a hint that moves are taking place to set up his next fight after posting a cryptic Instagram post

Meanwhile, Fury appears to be enjoying his retirement, breakfasting with Man United legend Sir Alex Ferguson this week

As per Boxing Kingdom, Fury is considering coming out of retirement just weeks after making his decision to fight Joshua.

Joshua may have added to the speculation with a cryptic Instagram post shared shortly before the news broke.

The heavyweight titan shared a picture from sunnier climes of himself playing chess – a pastime the star has repeatedly discussed having an interest in – with the caption: ‘The game is the game (black pawn emoji)’.

Whether the post is a reference to moves being made behind the scenes remains to be seen, but the fighter’s promoter Eddie Hearn has been keen to set up the next fight for Joshua, who fell to Daniel Dubois in September.

Hearn ruled out Fury as long as the fighter remains retired, suggesting instead that either Joseph Parker or Dubois, who are due to meet this weekend in Saudi Arabia, would represent strong opponents for Joshua.

Fury, meanwhile, appears to be enjoying his retirement for the moment, with the 36-year-old seen having breakfast with legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson this week.

In a picture shared by Ring Magazine, Ferguson and Fury tucked into an array of breakfast treats including Eggs Benedict and cups of tea.

Fury is an outspoken Man United fan, who has spoken about his desire to fight at Old Trafford in the past.
