Hayden Panettiere’s childhood home — located in a secret celebrity enclave near NYC — asks $3.99M

A charming residence in Palisades, NY — once the childhood home of actress Hayden Panettiere — is on the market for $3.99 million.

Panettiere, who starred in “Heroes” and “Nashville,” grew up in the home with her beloved brother, Jansen, who died of an undiagnosed heart condition in 2023 at age 28. In interviews, she has spoken openly about her grief. “When I lost him, I felt like I lost half of my soul,” she told People last fall.

The actress has also spoken bravely about her former battles with weight, sleep and alcohol.

The home is at 129 Washington Spring Road, not far from where Angelina Jolie grew up — and it’s also not a far drive from New York City.

It’s in the exclusive enclave known as Snedens Landing, which has been home to a who’s who of celebrities over the years. They include Bill Murray, Diane Sawyer, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Al Pacino, Scarlett Johansson, Björk, Jessica Lange and Uma Thurman — as well as Laurence Olivier, John Steinbeck and Katharine Hepburn.

Panettiere lived at 129 Washington Spring Road from around 1998 to 2013, according to brokers. The 4,000-square-foot home comes with four bedrooms and 3½ bathrooms. It was built in 1998 with a mansard-shaped roof.

The current owners are Dr. Roopa Awal and her husband Ashook Awal, who bought the home for $1.22 million in 2021 and then renovated it — adding a new roof, bluestone walkways, stone walls and more.

The home opens to a marble foyer. There’s also a separate entrance for a potential home office or “extended family” wing, the listing notes.

Design details throughout the home include two hand-carved fireplaces that have been converted from woodburning to gas, as well as oak floors, marble baths, high ceilings, casement windows with arched tops, barrel-shaped dormers and a covered porch.

Outside, there’s ivy-covered stucco, a gas fire pit, a barbecue and landscaped gardens. The koi pond, meanwhile, is filled with lotus flowers, water lilies and frogs.

The home can also be purchased furnished for an additional fee. Hiking trails, community tennis courts and the Hudson River are nearby.
