Daniel Dubois opens door to clash with heavyweight Tyson Fury vowed he would ‘avoid’ fighting

Daniel Dubois has suggested he would be keen to fight frightening talent Moses Itauma if the opportunity arises.

Itauma is the hottest property in the blue-riband division right now, having built a perfect 11-0 [9 KOs] professional record at the age of just 20.

Although he is set to fall short of Mike Tyson’s record of becoming the youngest ever world champion in the sport, it promises to be a huge year for Itauma.

Before the end of the year, Itauma could well be fighting for the WBO interim world title, given he is now ranked at No.6 with the governing body.

Should he win that potential fight against Justis Huni, he could well be in line for a shot at current IBF champion and fellow Briton Dubois.

And when speaking about a future challenge from Itauma, he told The Ring Magazine: “I’ve done a few rounds with the kid. He’s lightning, isn’t he?

“We’re gonna see, it’s a good match-up for the future.

“To be the first man to stop him, I like the sound of that. Line ’em up.

“But first the aim is to collect all the belts, I want the Usyk rematch.”

Dubois is open to any opportunity seemingly, which comes despite grave warnings from others that Itauma has the potential to rule the division.

British boxing icon Tyson Fury, who recently retired, previously suggested he wouldn’t step in the ring with Itauma after tasting his power in sparring.

Dubois equally has shared the ring with the teenage prodigy, but is clearly not afraid to mix it with his fellow powerful operator.

‘Dynamite’ as suggested is first keen to pursue a sequel with former rival Usyk, which would be for the undisputed titles.

But that can only materialise if he progresses beyond Joseph Parker in his IBF title defence on February 22.

Meanwhile Itauma is expected to return in spring this year, after dispatching of Demsey McKean emphatically with a first round KO in his last outing in December.

And his promoter Francis Warren has drawn up a growing shortlist of potential opponents to continue his meteoric rise.

He told talkSPORT: “It is a collective decision to how quick we move but you can rattle off some names.

“Filip Hrgovic, Otto Wallin, Justis Huni that is a fight that is being talked about, Charles Martin is another great name on our radar.

“But the fact is Moses is 20 in his second year as a professional, and he is already being talked about fighting some of the big guys.

“Moses is set to fight again in April before any interim title fight is discussed.

“The Huni fight, the reason he is specifically being targeted is because they are ranked at No.5, or No.6 in the world rankings.

“If that interim title does become available following Dubois’ fight with Joseph Parker, then we can grab it with both hands.

“And then that would put us in a fantastic position to fight for the full world title later on in the year.”
