Two of MMA’s best-ever featherweights could fight at UFC 300.
Conor McGregor, who famously knocked out Jose Aldo in 13 seconds to win the UFC’s 145lb belt in 2015, is not a fan of the man currently holding his old title.

After ‘Notorious’ moved up to lightweight to become a two-weight champion, Volkanovski took over as the division’s king by ending Max Holloway’s reign in 2019.
Four years later, he has three wins over ‘Blessed’. Volkanovski has also picked up high-profile victories over Brian Ortega, ‘The Korean Zombie’ and Yair Rodriguez to cement himself as the UFC’s pound-for-pound best fighter.
However, not everyone thinks the ‘The Great’ is so great.
“Ask my b******* that little sausage Volkonovski is no way p4p 1,” McGregor tweeted while watching UFC 293 this weekend.
“Silly. That’s quick work for me. 100% accuracy work.
“Readable. Hittable. Hurtable. I like he has this title tho we should fight at some stage so the FW goats will have all faced off and let there be no debate.”
Not one to get involved with social media trash talk, Volkanovski simply replied: “Let’s do it at #UFC300 Conor McGregor.”
Before they potentially clash at what’s expected to be the biggest UFC event of all time, McGregor and Volkanovski will return to the Octagon to fight alternative opponents.

The Irishman is booked to face Michael Chandler after spending more than two years on the sidelines due to the broken leg he suffered at UFC 264 in July 2021.
A date for McGregor’s comeback bout is yet to be confirmed, but he claims to be fighting Chandler at UFC 296 on December 16.
UFC president Dana White thinks it’s more likely his biggest star will return early in 2024 – an official announcement is expected to be made soon.
Meanwhile, Volkanvoski wants to defend his featherweight belt against undefeated contender Ilia Topuria before the end of the year.
The 34-year-old was expected to chase a rematch with current lightweight champion Islam Makhachev after that but could now seek a big-money fight with McGregor instead.
Either way, it appears he is going to compete at 155lbs again soon.
