Details for the eagerly awaited prequel series Welcome to Derry, which delves deeper into the terrifying world of Stephen King’s IT, have been formally revealed by HBO Max. Produced in association with Warner Bros. Television and developed by Andy Muschietti, the director of the popular IT movies, the series aims to build on the terrifying history of Pennywise the Dancing Clown and the cursed town of Derry, Maine.
Cronin, who will both write and direct the project, has promised a fresh and terrifying take on the iconic monster. “This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before,” Cronin stated. “I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.”
This reboot follows Blumhouse’s successful revitalization of other classic horror properties, including The Invisible Man and the upcoming Wolfman. Cronin’s previous film, Evil Dead Rise, grossed nearly $150 million worldwide, setting high expectations for this new venture. HORROR NEWS NETWORK
