Beauty mogul Jamie Kern Lima and her husband Paolo Lima are listing their oceanfront spread in Carpinteria, California, for $41.95 million.
They had bought the Santa Barbara County beach house from talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, for $23 million in 2019. (DeGeneres and de Rossi, who have long been active in real estate investing, had paid $18.6 million for the mansion in 2017.)
A former news anchor, Kern Lima co-founded IT Cosmetics — a problem-solving beauty line — with Paolo in 2008. In 2016, they sold the company to L’Oreal for $1.2 billion in an all-cash deal.

As part of the deal, Kern Lima stayed on for three years as L’Oreal’s first female CEO in its more than 100-year-old history.
In 2019, the year Kern Lima left L’Oreal, she and Paolo bought the beach house at 3443 Padaro Lane.
The four-bedroom, four-bath main house is 5,979 square feet, and comes with a one-bedroom, two-bath guest house that measures 883 square feet. The property sits on 1.1 acres with 77 feet on the ocean.

The walls of the main house “fan out” to maximize views, and sliding glass doors help create an indoor/outdoor vibe. Inside, the home features a chef’s kitchen and a large main bedroom with a dual-sided fireplace that connects the bedroom to the spa-like bath. Both spaces open to a beachside terrace overlooking the cove.
The bedroom boasts a large closet and sitting area to “rival your favorite boutique,” according to the listing, along with plenty of outdoor space — from a seaside deck to a rooftop patio, and a centrally enclosed courtyard with a fireplace.
There’s also a tennis court on the grounds.
The listing broker, Riskin Partners Estate Group, declined to comment.
