Meghan Markle previously called out King Charles and Queen Camilla for not sticking by herself and Prince Harry in their televised interview with Oprah Winfrey back in 2021.

After claims surfaced that she had made the Princess of Wales cry during the apparent row over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress, Meghan said that she was “silenced” and not “protected” by the Royal Family.

Speaking to Oprah, Meghan said: “That was hard to reconcile because it was only once we were married and everything started to really worsen that I came to understand that not only was I not being protected, but that they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family.”

In a 13-word statement, Meghan added: “They weren’t willing to tell the truth to protect me and my husband.”

Meghan, who was heavily pregnant with their daughter at the time, also said that a member of the family had expressed “concerns and conversations” about how dark their son’s skin would be prior to his birth in 2019.

The mother of two also suggested that the harsh media scrutiny from the British press affected her mental health to the point where she began having suicidal thoughts.

Speaking on behalf of his wife, Harry said that “no one from my family ever said anything” about Meghan’s racist treatment from the press – adding, “and that hurts.”

Discussing the possibility of reconciliation with the royals, Harry claimed – in the 2021 interview – that none of his family had reached out to make amends.

The couple had stepped back from royal duties one year prior to their bombshell interview with Oprah.

Meghan and Harry, now still largely estranged from the royals, reside in California with their son Archie, five, and daughter Lilibet, three.
