Step Inside RuPaul’s Eclectic $13.7 Million Beverly Hills Mansion: Disco Balls and Drag Archives Await

RuPaul is renowned for his exuberant flair and creative flamboyance – so it is no surprise that his Beverly Hills mansion is bursting with vibrancy.

The TV personality, 62, opened his doors to Architectural Digest to give a tour of the sprawling estate which he shares with husband Georges LeBar.

After buying the LA property for a reported $13.7 million in 2019, the couple enlisted the help of designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard and architect Christopher Hatch McLean to help bring their 1980s palazzo to life.

The décor is unsurprisingly maximalist throughout, with particular highlights being an imposing centerpiece complete with 26 disco balls as well as a room dedicated to the ‘drag archives.’

Architectural Digest said the designers worked together to create an ‘enchanting homage to Old Hollywood injecting the glamor of 1930s regency throughout.’

And the results do not disappoint.

Opening the door to the cameras, RuPaul gave a walkthrough of the mesmerizing space, starting in the disco room.

It boasts an array of glittering balls dangling from the ceiling, a Dorothy Draper-inspired fireplace and walls covered in black-and-white photographs of RuPaul’s favorite divas – including the likes of Billie Holiday and Grace Jones.

The kitchen is equally as striking, having been decked out in bold prints and a clashing color palette of black, white and orange – the latter of which is the star’s favorite color.

The centerpiece is an orange La Cornue range – complete with engraving of RuPaul’s catchphrase ‘you better werk’ – with ovens from the brand costing anywhere between $8,475 to $56,000 depending on the configuration.

The eye-catching color scheme also sweeps into the ‘breakfast nook’ which is flooded with light and adorned with panoramic wallpaper.

The statement style pieces in the space are undoubtedly the striking chairs designed by Frances Elkins and a leaf-design light fixture owned by Yves Saint Laurent in the 1970s.

But the decorative drama does not end there with an imposing dining pavilion and snug office that is home to RuPaul’s impressive collection of Emmy awards.

The piece de resistance of the house has to be the extensive walk-in closet that was created by converting two entire bedrooms.

It is now home to RuPaul’s entire collection of men’s clothes which are sorted by color.

The combination of wild and classic decoration continues throughout, but RuPaul claims that the ‘epicenter and motherload’ is the room dedicated to the ‘drag archives.’

The expansive room comes complete with bursting displays of jewelry, shoes and gowns.

He said the painstaking level of detail and tidiness makes it easy for him to find everything he needs when he gets into drag.

The property boasts a decadent outside space which the drag queen described as ‘very Pompeii.’

It is equally as enviable as the rest of the house and comes complete with a pool, jacuzzi, and free-standing structure for yoga and reflection.
