Roman Reigns is returning to power when WWE Raw debuts on Netflix

Looking ahead to Jan. 6 and WWE Raw’s debut on Netflix, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t apprehensive about Roman Reigns’ chances of regaining his Ula Fala and control over the Bloodline. As I wrote last week, Drew McIntyre will likely factor into Reigns’ match against Solo Sikoa that night. With the stipulation of Tribal Combat, anything, including outside interference, goes. This sets up McIntyre to finally get revenge on Reigns for cheating him out of the Universal Title two years ago.

This week on Raw, following his brawl with CM Punk, Rollins was approached backstage by McIntyre. The Scottish Warrior tried to convince Rollins that Reigns hadn’t changed and those helping him needed to be taken out. He noted how Reigns has people like the Usos and Sami Zayn fooled and that only he and Rollins could see through his charade.

While Rollins didn’t dispute that, he showed faith in Jey Uso and Sami Zayn, his friends. He reminded McIntyre how he teamed with them at WrestleMania XL to oust Reigns from power. He finished by saying McIntyre isn’t his friend and that he respects Jey and Zayn, but the jury is still out on McIntyre.

Were McIntyre to keep Reigns from defeating Solo Sikoa, that’s the end of Reigns’ journey, and then he’d have to turn his attention to McIntyre. While that could be interesting, the question becomes where WWE will go when it’s over. Additionally, a program with McIntyre would sharply detour from an expected confrontation between Reigns and CM Punk, possibly at WrestleMania, with Paul Heyman’s loyalty hanging in the balance.

But if Reigns wins, nay, WHEN Reigns wins, the traits of the Original Tribal Chief will creep back in. Everything McIntyre said will come to fruition. It’s also worth remembering what Reigns told fans weeks after his return at this past SummerSlam:

In the past, Reigns has expressed a desire to reunite his family. After defeating Sikoa, who said he would acknowledge Reigns if he could regain the Ula Fala, Reigns might see his wish come true. A reunion with Sikoa could see the two Bloodlines run Raw and SmackDown, with each man seizing control of WWE’s two world titles.
