Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens exits the ring as soon as the bell rings. The Canadian is unconcerned, taking his time at ringside before returning to the ring. Cody Rhodes grows tired of seeing his rival trying to attack him, so he goes after him to beat him up. Owens intended to stay out of the action, but is hit by a “Suicide Dive”; in the fall, Rhodes feels pain in his left ankle that was attacked on the way to WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event ( December 14, 2024 ).
The challenger is still outside the ring, and so far his strategy of sending Cody Rhodes into the commentary table works; KO takes advantage of the camera being close by to send a greeting to Randy Orton . The Canadian goes crazy on his return to the ring, messing with the entire audience present at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum . Kevin Owens looks to ruin this for everyone from any possible point. Cody Rhodes manages to react, and does a Stardust-style lap to downplay the Canadian’s taunts.
The action returns to the center of the ring. Rhodes knocks Owens down with a powerslam, but takes a while to get back to his feet due to the pain in his ankle ; Cody still connects with a disaster kick on Kevin, but it’s not enough to win. Rhodes heads straight to the top, but Owens escapes the ring once again. The Canadian stops the champion with a kick to the chin, and then clears the commentary table… CODY SURPRISES KEVIN WITH AN RKO AGAINST THE TABLE! Rhodes returns to the ring, and now yes, connects a Cody Cutter on Owens; he counts to two. After battling in the corner, OWENS ATTACKS RHODES WITH A BRAINBUSTER FROM THE TOP; HE COUNTS TO TWO!
The WWE Universe applauds the efforts of both contenders. Kevin Owens goes for a Stunner; Cody blocks it, but is violently pushed into the referee . KO STUNNER ON RHODES! But there is no referee to make the count… a new referee arrives on the scene, but Owens ends up being the victim of his own mistake. Owens makes his frustration known… Cody reacts, but ends up hitting the new referee. The fight now with two officials down. Owens arms himself with a chair… Rhodes avoids the impact and connects a Cody Cutter. CODY RHODES CROSS RHODES OVER KEVIN OWENS AGAINST THE CHAIR; CHARLES ROBINSON MAKES THE THREE COUNT FROM OUTSIDE THE RING! CODY RHODES RETAINS THE UNDISPUTED WWE CHAMPIONSHIP!
Kevin Owens attacks Cody Rhodes with a “Piledriver” and confronts Triple H
Once WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event went off the air, Cody Rhodes was ready to thank the crowd for coming. However, KEVIN OWENS CAME BACK TO ATTACK HIM WITH A PILEDRIVER.
And as Cody Rhodes was being taken out of the arena on a stretcher, KO was walking down the entrance ramp with the Winged Eagle WWE Championship in his possession, when TRIPLE H came out to push him , sparking an intense confrontation in front of the crowd that was still in the arena. The Canadian was held back thanks to the presence of two referees, while Triple H left after the paramedics who attended to Cody.
