Since WrestleMania 40’s main event saw The Rock wrestle after a long time away from the business, fans have been waiting for WrestleMania 41. However, it seems like The Rock isn’t going to be there.
The Rock has had a great 2024 after headlining WWE WrestleMania 40, having multiple movies at the box office and major hype surrounding his future wrestling plans in 2025. Despite his schedule, he appeared at Bad Blood to tease what could come next.
Or, he was in the neighborhood and dropped by. With the recent potential plans for WrestleMania 41 and The Rock’s involvement being released, fans are not too happy about it.
Fans question why The Rock appeared at Bad Blood with regards to the new WrestleMania plans
The hype following Bad Blood was through the roof as Cody Rhodes teamed with Roman Reigns and The Rock made his return. It felt like something big was set to happen at Survivor Series: WarGames, but nothing happened. Now, with the new potential plans for WrestleMania 41 out, fans are wondering what the point was.
One fan wrote: “I honestly have no words about The Rock right now. All I can say is that he’s a huge letdown.” Fans expected The Rock at WarGames since he mentioned his schedule was clear.
Another fan wrote: “They better deliver a Rock match, or else this looks so goofy, but they’ll just call it long-term storytelling.” At the end of Bad Blood, The Rock held up three fingers which fans believed was a reference to when The Rock would return.
Another fan wrote: “Meltzer told everyone months ago he wasn’t doing a match at Mania, he will still be involved but not wrestling.” The new speculation is that The Rock could influence The Bloodline story without having to wrestle.
Fans have been losing interest in The Rock’s WWE involvement
The reason why fans were hyped for The Rock’s WWE return and involvement at WrestleMania 40 was his heel turn. Fans saw a glimpse of the heel Rock like his run in the 2000s. Moreover, this added a new layer to the Rhodes Reigns feud.
Now, fans have waited for a long time for this to get fleshed out. While Rhodes is the new champion and Reigns is dealing with The Bloodline 2.0, The Rock’s use in the angle seems like an afterthought.
This was the same issue fans had with Brock Lesnar as a part-time worker. Since he isn’t seen much on the WWE program, fans lose interest in his storyline.
The RAW after WrestleMania 40 saw The Rock warn Rhodes that he would be returning for his title. Now, it seems like Reigns is in his sights. The whole thing feels disconnected unless WWE can tell a good story.
The Rock is still a huge draw for WWE and can influence storylines as and when he decides to. The whole WrestleMania 40 debacle with Rhodes’ spot in the main event is proof of that.
