Hall of Fame Coach Sends Powerful Message to Russell Wilson and Justin Fields After Steelers’ Victory.

The Pittsburgh Steelers picked up a huge divisional win in their Week 13 shootout against the Cincinnati Bengals, with the final score settling in at 44-38. And as has been the case recently, both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields played a role in this win for the Steelers, which led to some praise from Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy.

Wilson did most of the heavy lifting for Pittsburgh, and he put together a very impressive day, racking up 414 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.3 percent of his passes. It was Fields who iced the game, though, as his seven-yard run on 3rd & 4 with a minute left in the fourth quarter clinched the win for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh’s head coach Mike Tomlin has gotten comfortable using Fields in specific packages to help the offense out, and his timing has been impeccable. After this win, Dungy praised the longtime Steelers head coach for his unique quarterback usage that has helped the team remain in first place in the AFC North.

“Russell Wilson with 414 yds passing and 3 TDs. Justin Fields with a big 3rd down run to ice the game for Pittsburgh in a big win over Cincinnati. Steelers go to 9-3 to stay in 1st place in the AFC North. Mike Tomlin is using these QBs in the right way!” Dungy said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

For the most part, teams in the NFL typically roll with one quarterback on every single play, but Tomlin hasn’t been afraid to mix things up and show opposing defenses different looks by bringing Fields off the bench. While it may create confusion for the offense, Tomlin runs a tight ship in order to ensure that won’t happen.

Tomlin has pushed all the right buttons, whether it be with the team as a whole, or his usage of Wilson and Fields, and it has resulted in the team racing out to a 9-3 start. They will be looking to get some revenge in Week 14, though, as they will take on a Cleveland Browns team that just upset them back in Week 12.
