A new trailer for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming Netflix series dropped today – just a few weeks ahead of the official release date.

The series, named Polo, is set to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the horse-back sport as the programme follows global players preparing to compete in a US Polo Championship.

Netflix, who released the trailer on Thursday, named Prince Harry, 40, and Meghan Markle, 43, as executive producers of the new series, which comes almost two years since their last Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan was released.

While the previous Netflix show the couple appeared on was based around their lives as senior royals before they quit and moved to Montecito, California, in 2020, this new programme is set to focus wholly on sport.

Prince Harry does not feature in it

Although the Duke of Sus𝑠e𝑥 is one of the executive producers of the series, and plays polo himself, many may be surprised to see that the prince did not actually feature in the trailer himself.

While the prince may appear later on in the series, he did not show up in the trailer, despite reportedly having a big input into the show.

Meghan Markle, who was also named by Netflix as one of the executive producers of Polo, was also not featured in the trailer.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are executive producers

Some people may have been so invested in the dramatic clips within the trailer that they bypassed the fact the Duke and Duchess of Sus𝑠e𝑥 have been named executive producers of the programme.

This means they are likely to have had a creative input in terms of filming, content and the final version put out to the public.

Date of release

Royal fans may also not have noticed in the trailer that the series is set to air on Netflix sooner than some may have expected. In the trailer, it was confirmed that Polo will hit TV screens on December 10, which is in just a matter of weeks.

This means people can settle down to watch the sporting show in the lead-up to Christmas.

Plenty of reality drama

Although it was obvious at times, the trailer also had huge amounts of reality TV drama scenes in, a sign of what viewers can expect to see in the show.

While some degree of drama is to be expected, royal fans may have been left surprised at just how much there seems to be, with some of the clips showing members of the Polo sporting community facing tough and serious arguments with their families over their sporting commitments.

The show will air on Netflix on December 10.
