Frank Warren explains why Jake Paul vs Daniel Dubois fight can’t happen after private world title plea

Frank Warren has suggested Daniel Dubois cannot fight Jake Paul despite his recent plea.

Dubois recently ousted Anthony Joshua with a stunning KO in a maiden defence of his IBF heavyweight title, and has yet to pencil in his next move and opponent for 2025.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul outpointed heavyweight legend Mike Tyson in a ground-breaking event at the weekend, and is now open to all offers.

‘Dynamite’ elected to then make a private message offer to Paul, suggesting he wanted to touch gloves with him in a world title clash.

Paul accepted the clash publicly and leaked the messages, insisting he would get his team to reach out to Dubois’ promoter Warren.

The Queensberry Promotions kingpin has now responded to the situation, insisting it won’t be on the table any time soon.

“Look if he wants to do it he will do it [call out Jake Paul],” Warren told talkSPORT’s White & Jordan.

“It won’t happen, he is the IBF champion. Jake isn’t ranked with the IBF and won’t be ranked with the IBF.

“He hasn’t fought anybody who is ranked in the top ten so it is never going to happen.

“If he’s called him out, and Jake Paul said ‘let’s have some of that’ and he had, then who am I to stop him from doing it?

“I can go back to Muhammad Ali fighting a Japanese wrestler, it is nothing unusual.

“It happens and sometimes people want to see a car crash that is what it is.”

Warren has shut down the fight in an interview with talkSPORT

Dubois looked set to rematch Joshua, but that is now off the table and he will now likely make a voluntary defence of his IBF title in February.

He has been informed he can choose from the top 15 of the IBF rankings, which would rule Paul out by default.

Paul is not ranked at heavyweight by any governing body, and would need to take a leap of faith and fight a ranked opponent before earning any sanctioned shot.

The champion has yet to pencil in his next fight, but Warren believes Paul is not in the hat with it set be announced in due course.

“I’m meeting him today so we will see where we go with it,” he continued.

“We are pretty much there with where we need to be, so hopefully we can get it over the line today and tomorrow and be ready to announce it.

“Joseph Parker is in the hat and he is coming off of some good wins but we will see. Jake Paul at the moment is not in that hat.”

Paul has been inundated with surprising offers to step into the world title mix.

Undisputed light-heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev issued a call-out to Paul after his win, which was met with little interest from the influencer boxer.

Dubois’ former opponent Kevin Lerena even opened the door for Paul to take a shot at the WBC bridgerweight title.

But the only man Paul had on his mind after the final bell was Canelo Alvarez, who currently is a unified champion at 168lbs.

It is unclear if Paul’s future is at heavyweight, given he didn’t put on his best display when making his debut at the weight against Tyson.
