Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor put on a spectacle before, during, and after their fight, with footage revealing the conversation between the Russian and Dana White in the immediate aftermath of UFC 229.
On October 7, 2018, ‘The Eagle’ defeated ‘The Notorious’ via fourth-round neck crank.
Khabib Nurmagomedov was desperate for Dana White to put the belt on him at UFC 229
Following a crazy series of events, including a dolly being thrown through a bus window and one of the most memorable press conferences of all time, Khabib Nurmagomedov produced a truly sensational performance against Conor McGregor.
Utilizing his immense grappling skills, honed through years of sambo training, the gifted fighter ragdolled his rival, en route to locking in a fearsome submission that forced the Irishman to tap.
However, while that should’ve been the end of the feud, the reality was anything but, with Nurmagomedov reacting to a comment made by one of McGregor’s team, and jumping over the octagon.
The impulsive move prompted a mass brawl, with members of the legend’s entourage entering the cage and fighting with McGregor.
Due to the ruckus, Dana White feared that wrapping the title around Khabib’s waist could result in things getting even worse.
Footage captured by the UFC, shows the promotion’s President saying: “This is what I believe, if I put this belt on you, everybody is going to start throwing s**t into the octagon.”
Utterly undeterred, the fighter replied: “Brother, I am ready for this.”
Pointing out something very important, White insisted: “Other people might get hurt.”
Khabib Nurmagomedov recalls brutal street brawl, where he had to take on two brothers to avenge his cousin
Ultimately, Nurmagomedov is no stranger to fighting outside of the cage.
Growing up in Russia, he was often involved in street brawls, with one in particular still standing out in his memory.
After watching his cousin suffer a loss, the warrior decided he needed to get his revenge.
Consequently, Khabib agreed to take on not just the man who beat his relative, but his brother as well.
