McGregor began competing in amateur bouts at the age of 19, and continued his plumbing job alongside his martial arts training, until he decided to quit his job as a plumber to devote himself to martial arts full-time in 2008.

“I’m not destined to be a plumber,” Conor said in an interview with VipMagazine with Dee Devlin.

Conor McGregor’s girlfriend also confirmed that although their lives were not rich, she did not have to “wake up at 4am to take McGregor to practice, then go to work to earn money to farm for both of their lives” when the two lived together.

“The early years were definitely the hardest for us. While I was at work, Conor was in the gym, training extremely hard for fights,” Dee Devlin shared.
