Altay Bayindir
His first appearance against another Premier League team and looked unconvincing. Poor punch that led to Leicester City’s first goal and distribution was shaky, but one excellent save. 5
Diogo Dalot
Needed something to go his way and got it when the offside flag stayed down and his stinging low cross was converted by Garnacho. Grew in confidence. 7
Matthijs de Ligt
Couple of good blocks and a generally solid performance, especially when Leicester turned up the pressure early in the second half. 7
Victor Lindelof
A first start of the season and defended well. Didn’t have an awful lot to do but passing was good when United built up play on the left. 7
Lisandro Martinez
Back at left-back and a solid enough performance. The danger tended to come down the other flank but he offered balance in a quiet display. 6
Manuel Ugarte
Broke up play well and did the dirty stuff, which is what he’s been signed to do. Comfortable on the ball but struggled physically against Ayew in the second half. 7
Casemiro
Enjoying a remarkable renaissance after his Liverpool nadir and has now scored three goals in two games. Passing was crisp and dovetailed well with Ugarte. 8
Marcus Rashford
Lively again and helped to create Casemiro’s goal. Had a spell at centre-forward but never found himself in a position to take advantage of a poor defence. 7
Bruno Fernandes
Made the wrong decision in one first-half attack, but his deflected free-kick freed him up and he took his second goal really well. Got better as the game went on. 8
Alejandro Garnacho
Made the finish for his first goal look easy and was a constant threat to the Foxes defence, with his direct running and late darts in from the left wing. 8
Joshua Zirkzee
Could have done with a goal to get his confidence levels up. Stung Ward’s palms with one effort but can’t match Hojlund for threat level. 6
Subs
Noussair Mazraoui
Came on at left-back and had an easy time of things with the game already done and dusted. 6
Amad
Got applause from Van Nistelrooy for trying an acrobatic overhead kick that whistled just wide of the post. 7
Jonny Evans
Serenaded by the Stretford End again and enjoyed a simple run-out against his former team. 6
Rasmus Hojlund
Little time to really make an impact. 6
Ethan Wheatley
Given the final five minutes. 6
Manager
Van Nistelrooy loved every minute of his Old Trafford managerial debut. Celebrated the goals enthusiastically, got the crowd going and told players to celebrate together. 9
