A royal commentator has claimed that Meghan Markle has been “left inconsolable” over criticism from former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown.

Earlier this week, Tina appeared on The Ankler podcast and gave her opinion on the Duke and Duchess of Sus𝑠e𝑥 and criticised the California-based duo.

She described Meghan’s media strategy ideas as “total crap” and claimed that Prince Harry was following her “blindly…like a child”.

According to royal commentator Neil Sean, Meghan is “inconsolable with tears and at the same time outraged” over Tina’s comments.

Neil added: “According to a source Meghan was bereft because she’d admired Tina Brown and in particular read her books simply because of her connection to Princess Diana and get this because she wanted to find a better connection so she could understand her husband Prince Harry and how he felt about his mother.”

Speaking about Meghan on the podcast, Tina explained in greater detail her opinions of Harry and Meghan, saying: “The trouble with Meghan is that she has the worst judgement of anyone in the entire world.

“She’s flawless about getting it all wrong. She really is. Her issue is that she doesn’t listen. She has all these people, asks them their opinion, and then doesn’t follow it. She does what she wants to do. And all of her ideas are total crap, unfortunately.”

Tina also issued a damning verdict of Prince Harry adding that he was “very good at being Prince Harry” and that whilst he was the “most talented” royal when it came to being a prince that was all he knew how to do.

This isn’t the first time Tina has criticised Harry and Meghan, previously describing their exit from the Royal Family as a “disaster”. Her comments come as the Duke and Duchess of Sus𝑠e𝑥 try to rebuild in 2024 after a tumultuous 2023.

In recent weeks, it was found that the couple are buying a property in Portugal that bring them slightly closer to the UK. Whilst this reportedly isn’t intended to be a new base, it marks a change in the couple’s geography.

As to why the couple has chosen to purchase a property in the country, one professor and author believes it could be to do with the fact that Prince Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie is also based in the area. The cousins are reportedly close.

Speaking to the Express, Professor Pauline MacLaran hypothesised: “I would think this will have greatly influenced their purchase and will provide them with a familiar friendship circle for their stays there, as well as a chance for their children to get to know their second cousins.”

She added that whilst it may not change their dynamic with senior members of the Royal Family that it would make it easier for Harry to get to the UK at a time when he has made an increasing number of return visits home.

Professor MacLaran expanded: “I don’t think this new home purchase will make any immediate difference to relations with the royals.

“However, if the Sus𝑠e𝑥es intend to use Portugal as a base from which Harry can visit the UK while they are there, then perhaps he will have more of a chance to repair the relationship with his father if he can visit for short periods more easily.

“This will provide them with a more neutral base than buying in the UK where they face so much scrutiny. Yet the UK and the rest of Europe will be readily accessible. This way they can guard their much-loved privacy better.”
