Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies next summer.
October 15, 2024 ” rel=”Follow” target=”_self”>Sky Sports in Germany report United have ‘already gathered information’ about the 23-year-old, although the club don’t consider their ‘chances to be very high’. That’s because Real Madrid are also admirers of the left-back and are said to be favourites for his signature, as things currently stand.
Davies has entered the final year of his contract and it’s thought that ‘no new concrete talks’ have taken place yet. Bayern are keen for him to commit his future to the club and are ‘open’ to return to the negotiating table.
However, if nothing changes, Davies will be free to engage in conversations with overseas clubs when the transfer window reopens. He has been with the German giants since 2019, totting-up 203 matches to date.
Elsewhere, Football Transfers report United are thought to have been ‘closely monitoring’ Crystal Palace forward, Eberechi Eze. The 26-year-old attracted a lot of interest in the summer but Palace were reluctant to lose him after Michael Olise’s departure to Bayern for £50million.
The England attacker, however, is thought to have a release clause of £68million which becomes active next year. Eze is among the players United are monitoring ahead of the new year, with the report indicating that the club are attracted to ‘his versatility’ and quality.
The Manchester Evening News flagged him up as an option this summer. He can operate in the positions currently occupied by Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes.
The report suggests Antony could be part of a swap deal to facilitate Eze’s deal, but sources close to the Eagles have indicated they have ‘no interest’ in the winger. Whether United will push for Eze in January or next summer, though, remains to be seen.
