Hailey and Justin Bieber are officially parents!

The couple announced the arrival of their son, Jack Blues Bieber, on Instagram in August 2024. “WELCOME HOME,” Justin wrote alongside a photo of the newborn’s foot.

The “Love Yourself” singer and model, who got married in September 2018, didn’t share their pregnancy news until Hailey was more than six months along. This came as no surprise considering she told GQ Hype in October 2023 that the internet would be the “last to know” about a future baby Bieber.

“It’s also such a private, intimate thing,” she said. “And it’s just, honestly, at the end of the day, so hilarious how much people f—— care. Let me do what I want with my body and you guys can do what you want to do with your body — and let’s just let it be that.”

Justin and Hailey got married after a two-month engagement on Sept. 13, 2018. However, just two months later, she told Vogue Arabia that she didn’t have plans to have kids “anytime soon.”

“I love kids and I can’t wait to have my own,” Hailey said. “I would say that now, that’s a closer reality, but definitely not anytime soon.”

Justin shared several times early into his marriage with Hailey that he was looking forward to becoming a father but was also not in a rush.

“I want to start my own family, in due time,” he told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in February 2020. “I want to enjoy being married for a little bit, go on tour, be married, enjoy traveling with just us, build more of our relationship.”

He added in December 2020 while on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that though he was excited to welcome his own brood of kids, he wanted to respect Hailey’s timeline.

“I am going to have as many as Hailey is wishing to push out,” Justin said. “I’d love to have myself a little tribe. But, yeah, it’s her body and whatever she wants to do. … I think she wants to have a few.”

After the comedian asked what the couple were waiting for, Justin replied, “There’s not really an issue.”

“But I think Hailey still has some things she wants to accomplish as a woman, and I think … she’s just not ready yet,” he said. “And that’s okay.”

In October 2021, Justin’s documentary, Justin Bieber: Our World, was released and in one clip, he expressed his desire to have kids.

“My intention for 2021 is to continue to set goals and have fun while doing them. Make sure I put my family first and hopefully we squish out a nugget,” he told Hailey the morning before his New Year’s Eve 2020 concert.

“In 2021?” she replied, to which Justin clarified he meant to “start trying” in 2021.

“We shall see,” Hailey replied.

Since the beginning of their relationship, Hailey was often barraged with rumors that she was pregnant, which she often shut down.

In July 2021, fans quickly speculated that she and Justin were expecting after he posted a photo of the two of them on Instagram with the caption “mom and dad.”

Hailey clarified the rumors in the comment section of the post, writing, “I think you should maybe change this caption to Dog Mom and Dad before anyone gets it twisted 😂.”

Less than a year later, the Rhode founder once again clapped back at internet sleuths after many speculated she was pregnant when she wore a flowy dress to the 2022 Grammy Awards in February. She left a comment on a fan’s Instagram post speculating she was pregnant, writing, “I’m not pregnant leave me alone.”

In May 2023, Hailey admitted that she was “scared” to have kids due to how public her life was and is.

“I literally cry about this all the time,” she told The Sunday Times. “I want kids so bad but I get scared. It’s enough that people say things about my husband or my friends. I can’t imagine having to confront people saying things about a child.”

The new parents announced the birth of their son, Jack Blues Bieber, in August 2024. Hailey and Justin continued the Bieber family tradition of giving their baby “JB” initials.

“They’re both overjoyed,” a source told PEOPLE. “The baby is such a miracle. He’s adorable and doing well.”

A few months prior, the pair put pregnancy rumors to bed when they announced they were expecting their first child together in a carousel of photos of their vow renewal in Hawaii. A source told PEOPLE the day they found out was “the best day for them.”

“Everyone is excited for them,” the insider added. “They will be great parents, and Justin will be super involved. This will be the next important project for him. He’s so excited to raise his baby.”

Hailey “didn’t enjoy the stress” of hiding her pregnancy

In a July 2024 cover interview with W Magazine, Hailey said that though she “probably could have” hidden her pregnancy until her baby was born, she “didn’t enjoy the stress of not being able to enjoy my pregnancy outwardly.”

“I felt like I was hiding this big secret, and it didn’t feel good,” she said. “I wanted the freedom to go out and live my life.”

During the time she did hide her pregnancy, she said it was easy to do since she “stayed small for a long time.”

“I didn’t have a belly, really, until I was six months pregnant, which was when I announced it. I was able to wear big jackets and stuff,” she added.
