Dana White teases big news for five star UFC names, including Conor McGregor update

Dana White has teased some imminent Conor McGregor news.

The Irishman was set to return to the UFC Octagon at UFC 303 on June 29 against Michael Chandler but the fight was called after McGregor suffered a broken toe in sparring.

No new date has been announced at the time of writing, although McGregor and Chandler are both keen on duking it out in December.

Whether a clash at the back end of the year can come to fruition or not is yet to be seen, with White recently insisting that his biggest star won’t be back in action until 2025.

But an imminent update suggests the contest won’t be far off December even if it doesn’t quite squeeze into 2024.

“We talked about Conor today. We got Conor news coming up,” White said live on Instagram.

The UFC president’s comments pleased McGregor, who replied with a winky face.

White then teased some news regarding three other massive UFC stars.

“[Charles] Oliveira vs [Alexander] Volkanovski? We’ve got some news coming out for both of those guys too real soon,” he added.

“We’ve got Conor news coming up, we’ve got Oliveira news coming up, we’ve got Chandler news coming up, we’ve got Max Holloway news coming up, all that good s*** coming soon.”

There were rumours floating around online linking Charles Oliveira to a showdown with Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 309 on November 16 although nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Both men are coming off losses, with Oliveira dropping a split decision to Arman Tsarukyan in April and Volkanovski suffering a devastating knockout loss to Ilia Topuria in February.

Asked about the possibility of him dropping down to 145lbs to face the former UFC featherweight champion last year, Oliveira said via a translator: “He [Charles Oliveira] has definitely thought [about] going down, but like he has said before, he just likes to take it one step at a time.

“Right now he is strictly focused on Islam and God willing, if things are supposed to be the way that they are, he’ll definitely go down and fight Alex.”

It’s unclear exactly what the Max Holloway news will be given that he was recently booked to face Ilia Topuria for the UFC featherweight title on October 26.

The pair headline a stacked UFC 308 card at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates which includes Robert Whittaker vs Khamzat Chimaev, Ciryl Gane vs Alexander Volkov and Magomed Ankalaev vs Aleksandar Rakic.
