The second chapter of the rivalry between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre is set to cook up in a Strap Match during the WWE Bash In Berlin 2024 event .
One of the best feuds of the year continues its course, now, taking place at the Uber Arena in Germany. The first episode was a great battle, but now, both raise the bar to compete in a stipulation that will leave physical scars on both competitors.
CM Punk challenges Drew McIntyre to a Strap Match
During WWE SummerSlam 2024 , the first clash between the two finally took place after the exchange of blows that they threw at each other practically throughout the year. CM Punk lost the contest after he got emotionally carried away when he saw Seth Rollins , special guest referee, the personal bracelet that he had recovered from Drew McIntyre .
Rollins clearly put the possession on his wrist to save it and not lose seconds of the action, but Punk took this as a bad gesture and attacked him with a “GTS”. This moment was taken advantage of by McIntyre to knock out his rival with a “Claymore Kick”, because even though Rollins took a while to make the three count, Punk could not react again to escape the cover. The Scotsman recovered the bracelet and left Cleveland with the victory.
During WWE RAW ( August 12, 2024 ), it looked like Drew McIntyre wanted to get past the man from Chicago as he watched Randy Orton take a shot at Gunther for the World Heavyweight Title. But CM Punk wasn’t going to let the situation go and surprised him with an attack from the crowd. McIntyre wanted to defend himself using his belt, but was disarmed and ended up fleeing after receiving several blows to the back with the leather.
CM Punk appeared on WWE RAW ( August 19, 2024 ) talking about Drew McIntyre’s obsession with him, claiming that he uses his personal bracelet as a permanent connection between the two. So, to make him feel that connection, Punk challenged him to face each other in a Strap Match, a match in which they will be linked by a leather strap that can be used as a weapon . There will be no escape for either of them and the second battle that will take place in Germany will be without quarter.
CM Punk will compete in a Strap Match in WWE for the first time since defeating Umaga at WWE Extreme Rules 2009. While Drew McIntyre returns to compete under this stipulation since being defeated by Karrion Kross at WWE Extreme Rules 2022.
