Olympic Champion Shaun White Offloads LA Mansion for $3.925 Million: A Good Deal?

Three-time Olympic gold medalist Shaun White has sold his Los Angeles home for $3.925 million, according to Chase Rogers of the Beverly Hills Estates, who represented the buyer.

The snowboarding legend bought the three-bedroom Midcentury Modern home for $3.75 million in 2018, the year he won his last Olympic gold medal in Pyeongchang, according to property records. He put the Hollywood Hills home on the market for $5 million in April.

The buyer was Michael Silvaggi, a retired Louis Vuitton executive. White didn’t respond to a request for comment.

The circa-1950s home spans around 1,900 square feet and sits on roughly ⅓ acre, according to property records. It is located in a prestigious gated community called Outpost Estates, which has drawn celebrities such as Orlando Bloom and Ben Affleck.

The grounds contain a kidney-shaped swimming pool and a fire pit, according to the listing. Inside, floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the city and Runyon Canyon Park. “You can see people walking up the trail from a distance,” said Rogers.

Silvaggi said he plans to renovate and live in the home with his partner, Steven Bouwman, who owns a design and build company called Studio Veren. The home’s views and Midcentury architecture made the property stand out, he said.

Midcentury Modern homes are highly sought after in Los Angeles, according to Rogers. He said the home’s spacious yard made it attractive, especially for the price point. “When you think of L.A., you think of cool architecture, you think of land and you think of views,” he said. “This home has it all.”

Over the past few years, the house has been available for rent asking $17,000 a month. White, now 37, told The Wall Street Journal last year that his primary home is a redbrick ranch in southern Nevada.

White, who has been in attendance as a spectator at this year’s Paris Olympics, was the first snowboarder to win three Olympic gold medals and the first American male to win gold at three different Winter Games. In 2022, he launched Whitespace, a snowboard goods and clothing brand.

Listing agents Rick Tyberg and Lauren Duffy of Douglas Elliman declined to comment on the sale.

In June, the median sale price of a home in Outpost Estates was $2.9 million, according to Redfin.
