They have kept fans guessing with the status of their on-off relationship.

But it seems that Nicole Scherzinger, 35, and Lewis Hamilton, 29, may have reconciled for good as they enjoyed a romantic holiday in Rome.

The couple were spotted spending an idyllic Valentine’s weekend in the ancient city, with Nicole spotted feeding Lewis ice cream at a gelateria.

They also rented a scooter to see the sights Dolce Vita style, opting for a bike which bore the slogan Bici&Baci (bikes and kisses).

The couple’s weekend getaway included visits to sights including the Colosseum, Piazza Navona and the Gianicolo Hill.

Lewis was seen driving the Vespa scooter Italian style, even riding in the streets the wrong way.

In the afternoon the couple visited the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica, where they were spotted taking snaps.

The pair, who split last year before they rekindled their love on a New Year ski trip, also ate pizza at the historic pizzeria La Montecarlo.

Earlier this week, Nicole was seen checking out of her hotel in Mayfair and heading to a west London studio where she was met Lewis, who arrived by taxi laden with suitcases after apparently just getting off a flight.

Clearly visible in the boot of the vehicle were multiple gifts which may have been an early Valentine’s Day present from Lewis.

Afterwards Nicole and Lewis headed to a central London restaurant for dinner, with Lewis putting his hand protectively around Nicole.

Later they made their way back to a north London Hotel with the pair using an underground car park to keep things as private as possible.

Meanwhile Nicole has reportedly turned down a £3million offer from Simon Cowell to return for a third season of the X Factor.

Simon tweeted yesterday: ‘Nicole will always be a part of the X factor family. Now signed to Sony as an artist. Thank you Nicole for everything.’
