Damian Priest overcame a monstrous test against Braun Strowman during WWE RAW (July 15, 2024) on the way to defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther at SummerSlam.

Damian Priest faced Braun Strowman during WWE RAW (July 15, 2024) in preparation for WWE SummerSlam 2024.

Prior to the match, “The Champion” and Gunther had a confrontation on a very personal level. The Austrian made it clear that at “The Biggest Event of the Summer” he will seek to regain the prestige of wrestling and the World Heavyweight Championship, since Damian will always be “street trash.” Priest responded that he will leave Gunther with nothing to make him realize that he is nothing more than a boring, conceded and privileged bastard.

Damian Priest vs. Braun Strowman

“The Monster Among Men” started the action in Dayton with a lot of confidence, so much so that he managed to knock Damian Priest out of the ring . However, when Braun Strowman left the ring to gain momentum and try to run over his opponent, “The Champion” reacted by sending the giant crashing into the barricade. Damian returned to the ring in control, but even though Braun was nursing a sore knee, he once again knocked his opponent down.

Braun grabbed Damian by the neck; the Puerto Rican responded in the same way and managed to get rid of Strowman’s claw. Damian attacked Braun with three “Rolling Kicks” to leave him kneeling on the canvas. Strowman tried to react by attacking Priest with a “Powerslam”, but the pain in his knee did not allow him to complete the move. After the match, Gunther returned to the scene to slap Damian Priest in the center of the ring. “The Champion” responded to the Austrian’s blow, and despite receiving more punishment, he managed to knock him down. Gunther had no choice but to retreat after his attack was thwarted.
