Manchester United is awaiting Leny Yoro’s transfer decision.

Yoro is wanted by United and Madrid

Manchester United are waiting for Lille defender Leny Yoro to decide whether he wants to join the club.

United had an offer of around €65million for Yoro accepted by Lille earlier this week but Real Madrid are also interested in signing the 18-year-old centre back.

France Under-21 international Yoro reputedly favours a move to Madrid, who signed his compatriots Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Kylian Mbappe in recent years.

Madrid have a shortage of centre backs after Nacho left. David Alaba, who was converted into a centre half by coach Carlo Ancelotti, has been ruled out until 2025 due to knee surgery and Eder Militao missed the majority of last season because of a cruciate ligament injury.

Lisandro Martinez is set to start in the Copa America final for Argentina on Sunday, Raphael Varane was released last month while discussions are ongoing with Jonny Evans over a new contract. Evans has been a free agent since July 1.

Harry Maguire has returned to pre-season training after recovering from a muscular injury and Willy Kambwala appears to have received a new squad number. Victor Lindelof was among the senior squad members to report for pre-season on Monday.
