Soap opera star Melody Thomas Scott sold her storybook mansion in the Los Angeles area Thursday for $6.14 million, listing records show.
Ms. Thomas Scott, who for decades has played Nikki Newman on the long-running soap opera “The Young and the Restless,” owned the home in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood with her producer husband Edward Scott, property records show.
The seven-figure sale price on the residence was just shy of its most recent ask of $6.19 million, underlining the strength of the high-end home market in the affluent area.
During the third quarter of 2021, the single-family home sector saw its median prices jump more than 30% to almost $3.1 million from the same time last year, according to data from Douglas Elliman.
The Scotts purchased the home in 2001 for $2.3 million, property records show.
Nestled within a guard-gated community at the top of Mulholland Drive, the more than 6,000-square-foot Tudor-style mansion struck a chord with its buyer pool, according to listing agent Elizabeth Scott of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties.
“There was an interesting shift in aesthetic preference while on the market,” she said via email. “Initially, everyone wanted to make major changes to the home. Suddenly, people were loving it the way it was. We ended up selling with multiple offers.
“English Tudors may be making a comeback,” she said.
Boasting wooden beams, vaulted ceilings and wood paneling, the five-bedroom home “offers luxury and convenience with quality and detail to impress,” according to the listing.
There’s a newly renovated chef’s kitchen with a walk-in pantry, an underground wine cellar and tasting room, a gym and a guest suite with its own separate entrance and private living space—ideal visitors or extended family.
The home also boasts expansive views of the mountains, city lights and ocean, but it’s the main bedroom suite that has the best views in the house, along with vaulted ceilings, dual walk-in closets, a fireplace and dry sauna, the listing said.
Outside, the estate has an infinity edge pool, an outdoor gourmet kitchen and a grassy lawn.
Launched in 1973, “The Young and the Restless” aired its 12,000th episode on Dec. 1, 2020, and Ms. Thomas Scott—who could not immediately be reached for comment—has been a cast member for more than 40 years.
