Robert Herjavec made headlines a year or so ago when he paid over $26 million for an estate in Hidden Hills, the gated Los Angeles enclave where most of the Kardashian family and other celebrities call home. The amount paid for a home in the private enclave was the highest amount ever at the time of the transaction.
The decision by Herjavec, a seasoned Shark Tank judge and the creator and CEO of an IT security company bearing his name, to sell one of his many ostentatious residences—a towering penthouse in Manhattan—may not come as a complete surprise.
Herjavec’s New York apartment, which is listed for $38.5 million, is located on the full upper floor of One57, a well-known 75-story building situated on Manhattan’s infamous “Billionaires’ Row,” towering over almost every other property in the city. Herjavec paid roughly $32 million for the penthouse over three years ago.
The mansion-sized condo, which is accessed via a private elevator landing, has a dramatic doorway with a 26-foot-wide foyer that features two distinct entries to the home’s “grand salon,” a large room with breathtaking vistas surrounded by floor to ceiling glass walls. This area has 58 feet of frontage that looks out over Central Park and almost the whole skyline of New York.
With lustrous Brazilian herringbone wood flooring beneath Venetian plaster ceilings, all furnishings and finishes are naturally custom-made and of the highest caliber. The quality Miele and Sub-Zero appliances in the kitchen, together with the custom lacquered woodwork, are sure to wow. The built-in banquette and the separate, more formal dining space all provide striking views of the city.
The 6,240-square-foot home also has four ensuite bedrooms, one of which is the 1,350-square-foot main suite, which is nestled in its own wing and furnished with a luxurious dressing room, a hand-carved marble bathtub, and an exquisite sitting space. Every bathroom in the house has exotic marble slabs or travertine flooring, and each room has motorized shades that can be adjusted to provide peace at the press of a button.
Modern home automation systems are among the building’s features, which also include valet parking, a health club with a gym, private pool, and spa, a number of dining and screening rooms, a library, a billiards room, round-the-clock concierge service, and even a pet spa. A monthly HOA fee of $11,800 covers all those opulent facilities and many more.
Apart from his recent Hidden Hills abode, Herjavec is the owner of other multimillion-dollar residences. These include a $15 million mansion in Sydney, Australia; a lakeside home in the Canadian village of Muskoka Lakes; and a bayfront retreat in Newport Beach, California.
