Jennifer Lawrence kept it casual as she walked through New York City with her son, Cy, on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old wore a white T-shirt, light pink running shorts, and a hat as she pushed the two-year-old’s bike alongside a friend.
Jennifer accessorized with black shades, a gold necklace, and sneakers, while Cy donned a T-shirt, shorts, and a baseball cap that read The Skeleton Key while riding his bicycle.
A day earlier, the mother-son duo was joined by husband Cooke Maroney, whom she tied the knot with in 2019 after meeting a year earlier through a mutual friend.
Despite the trio’s public outings, Jennifer has been notoriously private about her personal life.
In fact, when The Hunger Games star and art dealer welcomed Cy in February 2022, Jennifer did not confirm his arrival or name for months following.
‘It’s so scary to talk about motherhood,’ she admitted to Vogue in October of that month. ‘Only because it’s so different for everybody. If I say, “It was amazing from the start,” some people will think, “it wasn’t amazing for me at first,” and feel bad.’
Jennifer added, ‘Fortunately, I have so many girlfriends, who were honest, who were like, “It’s scary. You might not connect right away. You might not fall in love right away.”‘
So naturally, the Silver Linings Playbook star anticipated all outcomes.
‘I felt so prepared to be forgiving,’ Jennifer confessed. ‘I remember walking with one of my best friends at, like, nine months, and being like, “Everyone keeps saying that I will love my baby more than my cat. But that’s not true. Maybe I’ll love him as much as my cat?”‘
But that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
‘The morning after I gave birth, I felt like my whole life had started over. Like, now is day one of my life,’ she recalled. ‘I just stared. I was just so in love. I also fell in love with all babies everywhere.’
‘Newborns are just so amazing,’ Jennifer continued. ‘They’re these pink, swollen, fragile little survivors. Now I love all babies. Now I hear a baby crying in a restaurant and I’m like, “Awwww, preciousssss.”‘
The Oscar winner also revealed the origin of her son’s moniker, telling the outlet he was named after the late American painter Cy Twombly – who was a favorite
And although Jennifer’s relationship has also been largely kept out of the spotlight, the No Hard Feelings star doesn’t shy away from gushing about her partner from time to time.
Jennifer told Entertainment Tonight in 2019, ‘He’s just the best person I’ve ever met in my whole life,’ noting that saying yes to marrying him was ‘a very, very easy decision.’
However, Jennifer didn’t anticipate walking down the aisle when she first met the New Yorker.
‘I definitely wasn’t at a place where I was like “I’m ready to get married,”‘ she shared on the Naked With Catt Sadler podcast in 2019. ‘I just met Cooke, and I wanted to marry him. We wanted to marry each other. We wanted to commit fully. And, you know, he’s my best friend. I feel very honored to become a Maroney.’
The pair has since embarked on the journey of parenthood together, with Jennifer praising Cooke’s dad skills along the way.
‘Fortunately, my husband is the greatest father in the entire world.’ she told Interview Magazine in June 2023. ‘So when I’m working, I don’t have any more guilt than the usual every day, all-day parent guilt.’
Jennifer also shared the couple’s parenting philosophy, debating how to best raise a child in the spotlight.
‘I’ve contemplated having a child that’s being born into a lifestyle that’s different from his friends,’ she admitted. ‘But kids have advantages and disadvantages when they’re born, all of them. The best thing I can do is just make sure he knows he’s loved, and that he’s our number one priority, and try to be a good example of kindness.’
Jennifer added, ‘I’m sure there will be challenges specifically from my choices and my lifestyle, and we’ll both have to confront that and deal with it when that day comes.’
