It’s no secret that Jennifer Lawrence is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Still, despite her killer acting ability and recognizable star status, she’s actually just a regular gal trying to keep her private life private. While we do appreciate the glimpses she gives us of her quirky personality, she usually stays pretty under the radar when it comes to romance.
The 32-year-old’s most public relationship was with British actor Nicholas Hoult, and her most talked-about fling was with Chris Martin. Now, she’s married to art dealer Cooke Maroney, and they have one child together.
But before Lawrence got to this point, she had to go on many bad dates, and she admits that — most of the time — it was her fault. “Oh, I’ve been on lots of awful dates,” Lawrence told Extra about her dating history at the June 20 premiere of “No Hard Feelings” in NYC. “I was normally the reason why it was awful. I was either laughing too hard at something or just being gross, I don’t know. I wasn’t very socialized. I didn’t go to school, so I was probably the reason why it didn’t work out.” Well, at least she’s honest!

Nicholas Hoult
After meeting on the set of “X-Men: First Class” in 2010, Lawrence and Hoult struck up a romance. They dated until 2013, briefly split up, reconciled, and then called it quits for good while filming “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in 2014. There seems to be no bad blood between these two, though, as they were spotted having a friendly chat at the 2016 Golden Globes.
Chris Martin
Shortly after Lawrence’s romance with Hoult ended, she moved on with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in June 2014. As Martin is the ex-husband of Gwyneth Paltrow (although their divorce wasn’t yet finalized when he and Lawrence started dating), many fans were surprised by the seemingly unlikely pairing. The two didn’t seem to notice all the outside talk, however, and they were soon spotted spending time together all over the place. In addition to low-key dates in LA, Lawrence supported Martin at his concerts and they even traveled on a private jet together. Unfortunately, things didn’t last. Rumors of a split first surfaced in October 2014, but the pair remained together until breaking up for good in August 2015, per People.
Liam Hemsworth
While Lawrence and Hemsworth were never technically a full-blown couple (that we know of), the actor did admit to having feelings for the star while they filmed the Hunger Games movies. During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” in December 2015, Lawrence revealed that she and Hemsworth shared a few kisses off screen. “Liam and I grew up together,” she said. “Liam’s real hot. What would you have done?”
Darren Aronofsky
Lawrence was first linked to the director in August 2016, when they were working together on “Mother!” Their friendship turned romantic after filming wrapped, but they broke up after a year of dating in October 2017. Even though the couple was generally private about their romance, Lawrence did briefly talk about Aronofsky in a previous interview with Vogue. “We had energy,” she said. “I’ve been in relationships before where I am just confused. And I’m never confused with him.”
Cooke Maroney
Following Lawrence’s split from Aronofsky, the actor began dating the art dealer in June 2018. The two keep their relationship private, but in January 2019, Lawrence’s rep confirmed to People that they were engaged. During a June 2023 appearance on “Chicken Shop Date,” Lawrence called the proposal “terrifying, but very, very exciting.” She recounted, “I didn’t say what I wanted to. I, like, imagined it a million times, and then I ended up just going, ‘What? What? What?’ And then going, ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you.’ “
Nine months later, the couple tied the knot at the Belcourt mansion in Rhode Island, though in a Nov. 2, 2022, interview with The New York Times, Lawrence revealed that she came close to stopping the wedding before it could happen due to her conflicting feelings about commitment.
“When you don’t fully know yourself, you have no idea where to put yourself,” she told the publication. “And then I met my husband, and he was like, ‘Put yourself here.’ I was like, ‘That feels right, but what if it’s not?'”
She added: “Then I went back, and when I’m home with my husband making this family, I’m so happy I stayed. I’m so happy I didn’t freak out and cancel the wedding and run away and go, ‘I’ll never be taken down!'”
On April 20, 2022, People confirmed that the actor and the art-gallery director had welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Cy.
