Zack Snyder’s first film at Warner Bros. was “300,” which launched a 15-year collaboration between the director and the company. A $456 million global hit, “300,” which was adapted from the comic book by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley, launched a franchise that Snyder co-wrote, “300: Rise of an Empire,” in 2014. The follow-up did not perform well, earning $337 million globally. Snyder, however, reveals to The Playlist that he drafted a script for the third installment of the “300” serial while the outbreak was going on, indicating that Warner Bros. was reportedly interested in carrying on the series.
“I just couldn’t really get my teeth into it,” Snyder said. “Over the pandemic, I had a deal with Warner Bros. and I wrote what was essentially going to be the final chapter in ‘300.’ But when I sat down to write it I actually wrote a different movie. I was writing this thing about Alexander the Great, and it just turned into a movie about the relationship between Hephaestion and Alexander. It turned out to be a love story. So it really didn’t fit in as the third movie.”
