Giant Freakin Robot asked an AI what Scarlett Johansson would look like as James Bond.
AI-generated art is all the rage these days, and we’ve seen some pretty great fan-fiction spawning from the prompts that fans have been requesting. And it’s certainly fun to be able to re-imagine some of our favorite franchises in a different light, like our Instagram post depicting Scarlett Johansson as James Bond. If you scroll further down the feed, you can also see what it’d look like if Ana de Armas was cast as Harley Quinn, or if The Big Bang Theory’s Penny was wielding a lightsaber like a true Jedi master.
Though this is all in the name of fun, and we don’t actually anticipate the Black Widow star replacing Daniel Craig as the iconic James Bond. But if the franchise ever decided to switch gears in favor of a female lead, Scarlett Johansson would certainly be our pick.
You’ve got to admit, Scarlett Johansson looks sharp donning a black bow-tie; the only thing missing from the picture is a martini. If we’re simply re-imagining our favorite stars in different roles, then wouldn’t it be wild if her incarnation of James Bond had peak strength and stamina of Black Widow?
It’s fun to imagine these things, but the reality of the matter is that Scarlett Johansson is quite busy these days to take on a James Bond-type role. Not only is her upcoming film, Asteroid City, currently in post-production, but she is also involved in two more roles in the near future: Project Artemis, which is still filming, and My Mother’s Wedding, which is in post-production. She’s also wearing many hats in the sense that she’s taking on the role of producer in Project Artemis.
While we’re having fun, maybe we should flip the script, and see what it would look like if Daniel Craig was the next pick for Black Widow! We’re not sure if Craig would like to be seen donning a tight black leather suit, but with the power of imagination and AI, it seems like anything is possible. But for now, Scarlett Johansson is still the top pick for future reprisals of Black Widow.
Now that we know what Scarlett Johansson would look like as Agent 007, we’d like to continue conjuring up other crossovers. We’ve already got some brilliant photos generated, including Nicolas Cage as Batman’s Ra’s Al Ghul, Dove Cameron as Poison Ivy, Robert Downey Jr. as a Jedi Master, and Ryan Reynolds as an X-Wing pilot. The possibilities are endless, and we’d love to hear what kind of properties you’d like to see re-imagined!
As for who will be replacing Daniel Craig’s James Bond, that’s still up for debate. Though Idris Elba was once rumored to be on the shortlist, he’s said in the past that he’s more than happy continuing to portray John Luther in Luther: The Fallen Sun rather than switching camps. It has also been rumored that Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train, A Million Little Pieces) had a secret audition in which he performed well and went on to voice how impressed he was with the entire operation at Pinewood Studios. Though nothing is set in stone, it seems that Taylor-Johnson may very well emerge as the next James Bond installment as Daniel Craig’s replacement.
