Whether it’s the Chiefs or the 49ers, you might not feel too bad for whoever loses the Super Bowl when you see the houses they live in.

In a championship rematch from four years ago, Kansas City and San Francisco are meeting again on football’s biggest day, this time at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.

Though the two teams may be matched in their abilities, the real estate markets in their cities are starkly different. As of December, the median home sale price in Kansas City was a modest $235,400, while San Francisco’s was $1.19 million, according to data from Redfin.

Here’s a look at the real estate holdings of some of the top players on the Chiefs and the 49ers.

Kansas City Chiefs

In the Kansas City area, many players have turned to affluent suburbs on both sides of the Missouri-Kansas border to find their dream homes.

Between scoring game-deciding touchdowns and his new romance with Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce has become a household name this season. And with that extra attention, he’s upgraded his home, too.

Since 2019, the two-time Super Bowl champion tight end has lived in a 10,000-square-foot home in Kansas City’s Briarcliff West, for which he paid $995,000, according to listing records. Now with more eyes—and paparazzi—watching him, Kelce has found a new home in a lower-key and more secure neighborhood.

Public property records indicate that Kelce purchased a nearly 17,000-square-foot mansion just across the state border in Leawood, Kansas, in late 2023. The six-bedroom home, which was pending sale in October with an almost $6 million price tag, sits on 3.3 acres and features a large pool area, a lighted tennis/pickleball court and a putting green, according to the listing. Both the neighborhood and the residence itself have gated entry.

Travis Kelce’s new home has more space and more security.

As for the star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, live in an estate they built on 8 acres of land in Belton, Missouri, that they purchased in 2020, according to the New York Post. Aerial photos of the property show that in addition to a mansion, the couple installed a pool, a pond, a golf hole and a sports field with “Mahomes” written in the end zone.

Impressive real estate isn’t just for Kansas City’s offensive players—defensive tackle Chris Jones lives in a 9,163-square-foot home in Overland Park, Kansas. Jones bought the six-bedroom home in September 2020 for $1.85 million, according to records, and some of its features include a large covered deck with a fireplace, a movie theater with a bar and a patio with a fire pit.

San Francisco 49ers

Over in the Bay Area, the 49ers also tout an impressive collection of real estate.

Kyle Juszczyk and his wife, Kristin, live in a 4,300-square-foot spread in San Jose, which Juszczyk purchased for $2.7 million in 2017, the same year he signed with the 49ers, according to public property records. The four-year, $21 million contract Juszczyk signed was the largest ever for a fullback in NFL history.

The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom home sits on 3.67 acres, according to the listing, and features a pool, a hot tub, a tennis and basketball court, a gazebo and solar panels.

Kyle Juszczyk has lived in the same San Jose home since signing with the 49ers.

Kristin Juszczyk made headlines recently after Taylor Swift was spotted wearing one of her handmade, custom-designed jackets to a Chiefs game. Her pieces have also been worn by Brittany Mahomes and Simone Biles, whose husband, Jonathan Owens, plays for the Green Bay Packers.

Over in Morgan Hill—a sleepier Bay Area suburb favored by both past and present 49ers, according to SFGate—wide receiver Deebo Samuel resides in a nearly 6,000-square-foot home he bought in August 2022 for $4.7 million, according to property records, after signing a three-year extension with the team.

The six-bedroom home features 20-foot ceilings, heated porcelain floors and an upstairs wet bar, according to the listing. But the star of the property is the backyard, outfitted with a plethora of amenities including a large cabana with a full kitchen, fireplace and bathroom; a resort-like pool and spa, where Samuel recorded himself celebrating his new home; and a fire pit with a seating area.

In the offseason, star running back Christian McCaffrey lives in an Encino, California, home with his fiancée, model Olivia Culpo, who purchased the newly built $3.5 million mansion in 2019, according to records. The Southern California property comprises a 5,141-square-foot main home with five bedrooms and a 225-square-foot cabana. Other features include a media room, a barbecue area with bar seating, a zero-edge pool and spa, and surrounding views of the San Fernando Valley, according to the listing.

The home Christian McCaffrey shares with fiancée Olivia Culpo is a contemporary mansion in Los Angeles.

McCaffrey was traded to the Niners from the Carolina Panthers last season, and he’s just now parting with the last of his North Carolina properties. McCaffery listed his French château-inspired Lake Norman estate at the end of January, asking $12.5 million, according to The Wall Street Journal.
