You may purchase Serena Williams’s former Los Angeles estate for $13.5 million.

A little over five years after Serena Williams eventually sold her long-term residence in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles for nearly $4 million less than the initial $12 million asking price, the retired tennis star’s former estate has resurfaced on the market with a $13.5 million asking price. Sotheby’s International Realty’s Louis DeLaura and Ernie Stone are the owners of the listing.

Records indicate that the Stone Canyon neighborhood property was last sold to L.A.-based interior designer Rodrigo Vargas and his partner Frederick Storey for just under $8 million in late 2018. The property was formerly famously owned by the 23-time Grand Slam singles winner for 13 years from 2006 to spring 2019, when the place traded hands for $8.1 million.

Tucked away on a guarded and gated double parcel encompassing nearly 3 acres, the Colonial Mediterranean structure was originally erected in the 1930s but has since been rebuilt and expanded. It is located minutes from Hotel Bel-Air. Inside, a little over 6,100 square feet of two-story living space with six bedrooms and seven bathrooms is decorated with glass walls that open up to grounds filled with water features and mature trees.

After crossing a long column covered in vines to reach the double entrance doors, which lead to a motorcourt and three-car garage, one enters an entry lobby that opens into a semicircular living room with marble floors and built-in bookshelves. Other features include a formal dining room with a chic chandelier over the wood-paneled study with a bar, and an all-white kitchen with limestone countertops, premium stainless equipment, and a breakfast nook with windows.

The exquisite main suite is located upstairs in a private area. It has a walk-in closet, a Juliet balcony, and an opulent bathroom with double vanities, a clawfoot soaking tub, and a steam shower. Unexpectedly, there isn’t an outdoor tennis court, but the private backyard does feature a pool and spa encircled by a flagstone patio, an outdoor cabana heated by a fireplace, and a brick-paved terrace perfect for al fresco dining.

Williams later purchased a $6.7 million property in a gated neighborhood of Beverly Hills and a sleek 7,000-square-foot waterfront home in Jupiter, Florida, which was highlighted in Architectural Digest in 2021. Williams married Reddit CEO Alexis Ohanian in 2017.
