“Who put this on?”: Lewis Hamilton hilariously reacts to Mercedes mechanic’s playlist

Star Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton recently got access to a team mechanic’s playlist during the Canadian GP, resulting in some hilarious reactions to the music choice of his crew member.

During Formula 1’s recent visit to Montreal, Hamilton got access to a team mechanic’s Spotify account. He was unaware of whose account it was as he explored their music taste inside the garage, in front of the Mercedes team media.

Lewis Hamilton was surprised when the English girl group Sugababes popped up on his desktop screen, their music blasting in the background. He was baffled to find tracks from the trio consisting of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhán Donaghy in the playlist.

“Ay, ay, ay, Sugababes! Who put this on?” Hamilton said.

Later, Hamilton chuckled when Pitbull appeared on the playlist, wondering which of his crew members worked out to Mr. Worldwide’s music. He later agreed that Canadian singer Nelly Furtado’s hit single Promiscuous was a great choice.

“I want to see who’s working out to Pitbull. Whose account is this?…Promiscious, Promiscuous is great.”

When Lewis Hamilton finally met the crew member whose playlist was on the computer, he questioned the latter about the Sugababes.

“You like the Sugababes?” Hamilton asked the Mercedes mechanic, who replied: “I’ve got three girls at home, Of course I like the Sugababes.”

Lewis Hamilton is on his farewell tour with Mercedes as he is set to join Ferrari in 2025. He seems to be enjoying his final tour with the Silver Arrows squad, with whom he has spent the last decade.

The Brit had a disappointing weekend in Montreal, as a seventh-place qualifying effort set the tone for his weekend when his teammate George Russell clinched pole position. On race day Hamilton gained spots but had to settle for a P4 result, after battling his teammate for the final podium spot.

Lewis Hamilton names his favorite music artists

The seven-time world champion named Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Prince as his all-time favorite music artist while naming American singer Frank Ocean as one of his favorite contemporary music artists.

In a Q&A session with Complexstyle on Instagram, Lewis Hamilton opened up about his music choices, when asked to name his all-time favorite artists.

“Now, would be Frank Ocean and of all-time probably Prince.”

Hamilton developed an early interest in music and started playing guitar when he was 13. He featured in Christina Aguilera’s 2018 song ‘Pipe’, under the pseudonym, ‘XNDA’, confirming it two years later in July 2020.
