Cody Rhodes delivered a gift from his past during his visit to WWE NXT

When he initially teased his latest trip to NXT during their Battlegound premium live event on Sunday night, Cody Rhodes made reference to what was probably the best gimmick he had during his initial WWE run.

The WWE champ’s June 11 visit to the Performance Center didn’t mean a return of Dashing/Undashing Cody Rhodes, his vain heel character from 2010-2011 who handed out grooming tips until Rey Mysterio broke his nose and caused him to believe his handsome face was ruined.

But it did mean he’d pass down the mantle of that face guard to a member of the NXT roster who recently had her nose broken, Jacy Jayne. In a nice nod to his old act, Rhodes brought the mask in a paper bag similar to the ones he used to hand out to fans to wear on their heads and cover their own imperfections.

Jayne could later be seen wearing the Undashing mask over her own black one.

For the WWE champ, the delivery was just part of a stop on his road to defending his title against AJ Styles in an “I Quit” match at Clash in the Castle on Saturday in Scotland — one Cody says he made to experience some of NXT’s “magic”:
