Images of Lionel Messi’s estate offer a new perspective on his opulent lifestyle since joining Inter Miami, thus it makes sense that he rarely leaves the house.
With the assistance of real estate company Team Simpkin, the legendary forward purchased the $10.75 million (£8.45 million) property in September, barely two months after committing to David Beckham’s MLS team.
Messi has plenty of space on his Fort Lauderdale house to host his teammates with 10 bedrooms, a VIP suite, and two boat docks.
Messi’s home, which is situated on an island in the private neighborhood of Bay Colony, features a swimming pool that sits on the edge of a canal and overlooks the cityscape of Fort Lauderdale.
The captain of Argentina has acknowledged that he hasn’t had a chance to fully explore his new city of Miami, choosing instead to spend the majority of his free time there with his wife Antonella Roccuzzo and their three sons.
When asked about his lifestyle, Messi replied, “No, the truth is that we don’t go out much either,” to the Argentine newspaper Infobae.
“We have a short trip to Miami from where we live, which is close to the club. We go out; we’ve gone out a few times, but I’m still not too familiar with it.”
Messi, 36, is preparing to assist Argentina in winning the Copa America this summer, but despite the competition being held in the USA, he won’t be far from home.
By a strange twist of fate, the team’s last group match versus Peru will take place at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, which will also host the championship game.
The talisman for Inter Miami will try to make history by being the first captain of Argentina to win back-to-back Copa America titles since Oscar Ruggeri in 1993. The team’s celebrations will probably take place at Messi’s residence if the defending world champions do manage to maintain their dominance abroad.
Addressing the prospect of playing in the USA with Argentina, Messi said: “The games played here in Miami are going to be different because the climate changes a lot, a lot of heat, a lot of humidity. But well, we in the group have only one in Miami, which is the third, and then if we continue passing and God willing we reach the final, you won’t come back until the final.”
