Beverly Hills’ famous bowl-shaped mansion, previously rented by superstar Justin Bieber, is back on the market for a whopping $35 million. The 30-year-old Baby hitmaker lived in the steel and glass property, known as the ‘salad spinner house’ for its striking resemblance to the kitchen gadget, in 2014.
He reportedly took out a short-term lease on the property ‘for the widely reported price of $59,000 per month,’ according to Yahoo! News. The Ed Niles-designed residence was also the venue rapper Meek Mill threw a Grammy after-party, against the landlord’s wishes.
In 2015, the landlord sued Mill, 37, for leaving the house trashed after ‘1,000 people showed up’ to his rager. According to TMZ, at the time, the huge bash broke Meek’s week-long lease. The landlord claimed ‘the place was left trashed with broken furniture, broken glass, destroyed landscaping — and even a broken trampoline.’
He was also explicitly warned ‘not to think about having the Grammy party’ on the premises. Over the years, the salad spinner house has also been rented by brothers Markieff and Marcus Morris, who both play in the NBA.
In addition to its distinctive architecture, the three-story, six-bedroom, seven-bath home has 6,500 square feet of living space, an elevator, a sail-shaped infinity pool with a spa and panoramic views of Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean. Other amenities include multiple bars, a six-car garage and a state-of-the-art security system.
The property first sold in 2011 for $9 million, and, most recently, for $10.5 million in 2014. Per Realtor.com, it has ‘served as a pricey rental property’ with rates fluctuating between ‘$50,000 to $85,000 per month.’
An online real estate listing for the property says developer Raffi Cohen commissioned the home when in 2009 when he was single but put it on the market in 2010 after he got married and had children, feeling that it was more of a bachelor pad. Considering Bieber and his wife, Hailey Bieber, are expecting their first child together, it is unlikely he would be interested in the property.
The couple, who wed in 2018, announced they were expecting last month on Instagram. They managed to keep the news under wraps for six months and reportedly wanted to keep it a secret as long as possible.
‘When they found out that Hailey was pregnant, it was just the best day for them. They have both been very emotional about it,’ a source told People. ‘They feel so blessed. They’ve also felt very protective of the baby from the moment they found out.’ They continued: ‘They shared with family and close friends early on. It was important for them to keep it quiet and just enjoy for as long as possible before they publicly confirmed though. They asked their friends to not share until they were ready to announce.’
