The longtime Los Angeles-area home of Canadian-born crooner Paul Anka has hit the market for $10 million.
Part of the Sherwood Country Club estate in Thousand Oaks, California—about 40 miles from downtown L.A.—the 7,791-square-foot home sits on nearly 6 gated acres and has far-reaching views of the clubhouse and the surrounding mountains, according to last week’s listing with Mary Ann Scott of Beverly & Company and Team Nicki LaPorta and Karen Crystal at Compass.
“The Sherwood lifestyle is the epitome of luxury coupled with the natural beauty of the surrounding lake and majestic Santa Monica Mountains,” the Compass team said in a statement.
Anka, 82, purchased the property in 2007 for just under $4 million, according to records with PropertyShark. The singer, songwriter and actor is known for hits like “Put Your Head on My Shoulder,” “Diana” and “My Way”—Frank Sinatra’s signature song for which Anka wrote the English lyrics. Representatives for Anka did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The French-inspired residence has a semi-open layout with stone floors, high ceilings and statement light fixtures, according to the listing. There’s also an eat-in chef’s pantry with a large island and a windowed breakfast nook, plus several reception rooms, two of which are lined by Anka’s collection of gold records, listing photos show. A number of the rooms offer French doors with access to the backyard.
There are four en-suite bedrooms, plus two additional bathrooms, the listing said. The main suite has an office area, a dressing room and a bathroom with a soaking tub, according to the listing.
Other amenities include, not surprisingly, a recording studio, a wine cellar, additional office space and a billiards room. Outside, there’s an infinity-edge pool, several lounge areas, a firepit and freestanding glass structure with an air-conditioned gym, as well as an adjacent bathroom and outdoor shower.
