The NFL quarterback will do everything in his power to get the Mavericks back to winning ways.
The Dallas Mavericks have not had an ideal start to the NBA Finals series after losing their opening games to the Boston Celtics.
While the Celtics have the likes of Pep Guardiola on their side, the Mavericks will be hoping to channel Patrick Mahomes‘ winning spirit into something tangible in Game 3.
Despite being quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes grew up in Tyler, Texas and owns a home in Westlake about an hour northwest of where the Mavericks play their games at American Airlines Center.
He doesn’t try to hide the fact that he’s a passionate Mavericks fan and was courtside with his wife Brittany and Travis Kelce during the Western Conference Finals, where they watched the Mavs overcome the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 3.
Mahomes expected to be back
The 28-year-old is likely to be courtside again for the Games 3 and 4, which will prove to be crucial in deciding the NBA Finals.
He has already done his bit in narrating their official hype video for the NBA Finals, but they need more of his star power.
Ironically, it was seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady who narrated for the Celtics – and as it stands, they are in control of the tie.
The Mavs have it all to do in Game 3 after losing the first two ties to trail 2-0. They were well beaten on Friday after suffering a 107-89 defeat, with the Celtics enjoying an unstoppable first quarter in which they scored 37 points alone.
Doncic was the top scorer in Game 2, scoring 32 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists to lead a one-man show. But the Slovenian’s efforts weren’t enough to guide his team to victory, as they suffered a 105-98 loss at the hands of the Celtics.
Mahomes will be there to lend his support for Doncic, and the point guard may need all the support he can get from the three-ring Super Bowl champion if he is to inspire Dallas to complete an incredible turnaround.
