Manchester United are set to lose Omari Forson this summer after the 19-year-old turned down the club’s final contract offer.
Forson is out of contract on June 30 and despite more than six months of negotiations, Mail Sport understands his representatives have informed United that he will be leaving for a new club this summer.
Due to his age United would be due a compensation fee for his development wherever he ends up next.
It represents a blow to Erik ten Hag and the coaching team having overseen Forson’s progression into the first team last season.
In January the youngster became the 249th academy graduate to break into the first team when he came off the bench in the FA Cup away at Wigan Athletic.
He then went on to win his first Premier League start in a defeat against Fulham at Old Trafford.
Back in November United were confident they would be able to agree terms with Forson and his representatives having shown him a future as part of the first team.
Those attempts appear to have proven fruitless and while United will leave their current offer on the table right up until his current deal expires, it now appears Forson’s mind is made up.
Losing Forson only elevates the need for a new right winger at United this summer with both Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood out of favour and expected to move on, while Antony has failed to live up to his £86million price tag.
