In the Colorado community of Mountain Village, a part of Telluride, an opulent log cabin outfitted with upscale amenities has sold for $20 million, setting a new record.

The location of the mountain estate is undoubtedly the most alluring feature for enthusiasts of winter sports amid its many other advantages.

“You open the door and you’re on the Sundance ski run,” said Ken Grodberg of Compass, who represented the sellers in the benchmark sale earlier this month. “There’s a lot of value to that.”

Along with the expansive mountain views, which are “dramatic, even by Telluride standards,” it was one of the home’s selling features, according to him.

With eleven fireplaces, exposed log timbers, double-height windows, and soaring ceilings, the main house is large but yet “comfortable, approachable, and warm,” according to Grodberg.

The sellers—who, according to property records, bought the home in 2007 for a little over $13 million—“changed the feel of it to give it that welcoming ambience,” he added. They couldn’t be reached for comment.

According to the description, the compound includes a studio apartment, two independent cottages, and the expansive main house, which together provide approximately 17,000 square feet of living space and 10 bedrooms.

Along with the typical elements of an opulent family compound, such as an elevator, various living areas, and a large principal suite, the property also boasts a number of high-end facilities, such as a games room, a home cinema, a bowling alley, and numerous spa services.

“It is a great home for various age groups and generations,” Grodberg said. “There’s something for everyone, young and old.”
